What is HIFU?
HIFU is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy delivered at specific depths beneath the skin. It works without needles or incisions, making it a non-surgical option for clients wanting a firmer, tighter and more lifted-looking appearance with minimal downtime.
By stimulating natural collagen production and tissue renewal, HIFU helps firm, lift and define the face over time, creating a refreshed, tighter and naturally rejuvenated appearance.
At The Bodyy Shape Aesthetic in Brisbane, HIFU treatments can be personalised to target concerns including skin laxity, early jowling, loss of firmness, fine lines and jawline definition. HIFU is generally best suited to clients with mild to moderate facial laxity.

01
Focused Ultrasound Energy Targets Deeper Layers
HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy to carefully selected depths beneath the skin while leaving the skin’s surface intact. The energy creates controlled thermal points within the targeted tissue, helping to stimulate the body’s natural collagen response and support skin tightening and firmness.
02
Collagen Remodelling Develops Over Time
The controlled thermal effect stimulates the body’s natural healing response, supporting new collagen production and collagen remodelling over time. As this process develops gradually, the skin may appear firmer, tighter and more lifted, creating natural-looking results.
Pre-Treatment Care

- Some areas may feel mildly tender or sensitive to touch for a few days.
Aftercare Guidelines
- Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for the first 24 hours.
- Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser and avoid strong or irritating skincare products.
- Apply SPF 50+ daily and limit excessive direct sun exposure.
- Avoid retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C and other strong active skincare for 48–72 hours.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid laser, IPL, RF microneedling, injectables and other invasive or energy-based facial treatments for at least 2 weeks, or as advised by your practitioner.

- HIFU results develop gradually as collagen production and remodelling continue over the following weeks and months.
- If you experience an unexpected or persistent reaction following treatment, please contact The Bodyy Shape Aesthetic for advice.
LED Light Therapy Add-On
Enhance your treatment with LED light therapy. This gentle, non-invasive add-on works at a cellular level to support circulation, skin healing and renewal, making it a comfortable finishing step for calmer, healthier-looking skin.
The light colour is selected based on your skin concern:
- Red light to support collagen production for anti-ageing benefits
- Yellow light to help brighten the skin and reduce redness or rosacea
- Blue light to reduce inflammation, target acne-causing bacteria and calm breakouts
- Green light to combine the benefits of red and blue while also targeting hyperpigmentation

Get DirectionsNo. HIFU is a non-surgical treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy at specific depths beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and gradually tighten and lift the skin. It can improve mild to moderate skin laxity and facial definition, but it cannot remove excess skin or provide the same degree of lifting as a surgical facelift. We’ll assess your skin during your consultation and explain what results you can realistically expect.
Many clients see noticeable improvement after just one HIFU treatment, with results continuing to develop over the following months as collagen production and remodelling take place. Depending on your age, skin laxity and elasticity, lifestyle, treatment goals and individual response, a second treatment may be recommended. Generally, one to two HIFU treatments within a 12-month period may be suitable, with your treatment plan personalised to your individual needs.
HIFU results develop gradually as your skin produces new collagen and goes through the natural collagen-remodelling process. You may notice some early tightening, with more noticeable results developing over the following 2–3 months.
For many clients, results can last around 12 months or longer, but everyone’s skin is different. Age, skin laxity and elasticity, hormonal changes, lifestyle, sun exposure and the natural ageing process can all influence your skin and how your results develop over time.
HIFU cannot stop the natural ageing process, so maintenance treatments may be recommended when needed to help maintain your results.
Both treatments support collagen production, but they work differently. HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy to deeper tissue layers, making it better suited to lifting, contouring and concerns such as mild jowling and loss of jawline definition. RF skin tightening uses radiofrequency energy to heat the tissue, helping improve overall skin firmness, texture and elasticity.
Yes. HIFU can help improve mild jowling, soften the appearance of fullness under the chin and create better definition through the jawline and lower face. Results depend on the degree of skin laxity and under-chin fullness, so we’ll assess the area during your consultation to determine whether HIFU is the right treatment for you.
HIFU is commonly considered from the mid-30s onwards, when early signs of skin laxity, loss of firmness or jowling may begin to appear. It can also be suitable for clients in their 40s, 50s and beyond with mild to moderate skin laxity. Ultimately, suitability depends more on your skin condition than your age, which we assess during your consultation.
1 HIFU session nearly takes 60 minutes.
Yes. Depending on your skin concerns and goals, HIFU can be combined with treatments such as RF skin tightening and LED light therapy. These treatments work in different ways and can complement HIFU to support skin firmness, collagen production and overall skin quality. Your treatment combination and timing will be personalised during your consultation.
Yes. HIFU is a non-invasive treatment with an established safety profile when performed correctly by a qualified practitioner. Treatment depth and settings are carefully selected according to the treatment area and individual needs. A consultation is completed beforehand to ensure HIFU is suitable for you.
HIFU treatments can range from approximately $200 to $1,500+, depending on the treatment area, the number of shots required and the treatment plan. Different treatment depths may be used depending on the area and individual needs. Your exact treatment and pricing will be confirmed during your consultation.
HIFU is primarily used to tighten and lift the skin rather than reduce facial fat. Focused ultrasound energy can be delivered at different depths, including deeper tissue layers such as the SMAS, helping stimulate collagen remodelling and improve facial firmness and definition. Depending on the treatment depth and area, HIFU may also affect localised fat, which is why each treatment should be carefully tailored to the individual.
Yes. HIFU can help improve a double chin by tightening lax skin and, when appropriate treatment depths are used, targeting localised fat beneath the chin. This can improve jawline definition and create a firmer, more contoured appearance. Results depend on whether the fullness is mainly caused by skin laxity, localised fat, or a combination of both, which will be assessed during your consultation.
Yes, but timing is important. You may need to leave an appropriate gap between HIFU and treatments such as dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections or other facial procedures. Let us know what treatments you’ve recently had or are planning, and we’ll advise you on the safest timing and treatment order.
